For connection, remove the cap from the Irrometer tensiometer and connect the vacuum pump. Five or six quick strokes will give a vacuum gauge reading of 80 to 85 cb, which is the maximum achievable. The pump will stay attached to the instrument without the need to hold it, leaving the hands free to lightly tap the main tube to release any air bubbles that may form.
When breaking the vacuum, proceed gently to avoid sharp shocks or backlashes of the vacuum gauge needle. This is achieved by carefully handling the relief valve incorporated into the suction cup.
Periodically, it may be necessary to disassemble the vacuum pump and clean its components with water. After drying, all components can be lubricated with silicone spray.
